New PhD and Post-doc positions in the areas of power electronics and electric machines

Research areas:

  • Design, optimization and control of power electronic systems / inverters for electric vehicle applications and application of SiC / GaN power devices for power inverter design.
  • Control and testing of electric machines.

 

PhD positions (starting date: Immediately)

The CHARGE Lab, University of Windsor (www.chargelabs.ca) is currently able to offer an industry-funded PhD studentship in above areas with an immediate start date.

The successful candidate is expected to have a degree in or related to Electrical / Electronic Engineering, and is required to be highly motivated and have a strong interest in the above research topics. Fluency in English is required. If the candidate has experiences in hardware / software design of power electronic systems, it will be more competitive.

The studentship (Entrance Scholarship + GA + RA) will cover the cost of registration, and includes a very competitive stipend to assist with living expenses while studying. The supervisor for the studentship will be Professor Narayan Kar.

Eligibility

Electrical engineering or Automation

A completed master’s degree will be an advantage, but is not essential.

IELTS Academic certificate, with an overall score of ≥6.5.

Postdoc positions (starting date: Immediately)

The successful candidate is expected to have an excellent scientific track record in Power Electronics or Electric machines and experience in one (or more) of the following fields: power converters/inverters, electric machine design, control and testing.

The successful candidate is expected to be familiar with one of the following controllers: DSP or RT-LAB. The experiences in hardware design of power converters are also expected.

Positions for PhD students on electric machine design control and testing at CHARGE Labs

There are several openings to support PhD students on Electrical Machines. Applications are invited for these openings at the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, University of Windsor, ON, Canada. We are seeking highly motivated candidates with an outstanding academic record and oral and written communication skills in English. The candidates in electrical engineering and control automation or related fields should email detailed CV and application letter to CHARGE Labs Management Team (chargelabs@uwindsor.ca). The PhD applicant needs to have a good IELTS score of for the enrollment and the entrance scholarship. The research scholarship will be depending on the candidates’ capabilities.
