Electric machine design, modeling and prototyping of permanent magnet synchronous machines, induction machines, switched reluctance machines, reluctance and wound field synchronous machines has been one of our prime focus over the last decade. In collaboration with government and university materials laboratories, the R&D conducted in the area of electric machine design is taken up from a grass-root level by employing fundamental innovation from enhanced materials for core, windings and insulation apart from structural & thermal design and analysis using analytical and finite element models of various machines.

  • Ansys and Magnet Infolytica FEA software packages for electromagnetic, structural and thermal design
  • Facilities for R&D on enhanced core, winding and insulation materials for electric machines
  • Winding, lamination cutting and motor assembly capability through partners located within 100km of the University
